FREE ACCOMMODATION SITES (Staying with Locals Sites for FREE)

Couchsurfing: With Couchsurfing, you can stay with locals in every country on Earth. Travel like a local, stay in someone’s home and experience the world in a way money can’t buy. If you’re traveling and need cheap accommodations, or have room on your couch (or spare room), this is a great way to meet people from all over the world. Just remember you will most likely be sleeping on someone’s couch, so be clean and don’t wear out your welcome. Though I have never Couchsurfed myself, I have hosted several surfers from all over the world. I have been so impressed with all of them and how polite and respectful they have been. They have all left the spare room and bath as clean as when they arrived, some love to cook and share a meal, other just a relaxing evening and good conversation.

Global Freeloaders: Global Freeloaders is similar to Couch Surfing, but does not seem to have the infra structure such as references and friends. It is an online community, bringing people together to offer free accommodations all over the world. Save money and make new friends while seeing the world from a locals perspective. One difference here is if you take advantage of a stay with a Global Freeloader you are expected to reciprocate by hosting another at some point during your registration period.

BeWelcome: Open your door to the world – Step inside and invite travelers to your home, find hosts all over the world, and become part of our multicultural hospitality community. It is a not-for-profit, open source, and exclusively run by members in a transparent and democratic way. Imagine arriving in a city like Paris or Mumbai. Instead of trying to find a taxi however, there is somebody already waiting for you. Imagine that instead of going to eat at the place recommended by the guidebook; someone shows you their favorite restaurant. Imagine the experience staying as a personal guest of your new friend rather than sleeping in a hotel room.

HOSTELS: (There are Several Hostel Web Sites, These are Just a Couple to get You Started)

Hostel World: is the world’s number one hostel booking website. Initially focusing its business on independent and official youth hostels, the site now features campsites, self-catering, B&B’s, and budget hotels and currently lists over 27,000 properties in more than 180 countries.

Hostel Rocket: It’s a place for young, budget, and social travelers to find a low-cost bunk bed somewhere out in the world amidst their travels. A hostel, to the average blinking eye, is a simple place. One that houses backpackers in destinations where their budgets can’t stretch far enough for a proper hotel room.
